To encourage the children to love one another.
CENTRAL TRUTH
Your demonstration of love will show that you are a disciple.
INTRODUCTION
Jesus gave us many commandments in the Bible. Can you name them? (Allow children to name
them). Now listen as we learn a new commandment which Jesus gave.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
1. The Pharisees asked Jesus of the greatest of the commandments.
2. Jesus replied that the first commandment is to love God with our heart, soul and
mind.
3. Jesus said further that the second commandment is to love your neighbour as
yourself.
4. Later Jesus told his disciples that people will know them as disciples if they love
one another.
LIFE APPLICATION
Thought there are many commandments and laws they are all wrapped up in love for God whom
you have not seen and love for man who you can see. The new commandment covers all other
commandments.
MESSAGE OF SALVATION
You cannot love like God with your own power. You must be born again. Receive Jesus as your
Lord and Personal Saviour.
CONCLUSION
Jesus new commandment is love. Love God, love your neighbour.
CHALLENGE
When you love others, this shows that you are a disciple.
INVITATION
It is only if Jesus is in your heart that you can love as God expects. Receive Jesus today
and receive the power to love others.
